For many organizations, keeping data safe is paramount. But along with that key need, being able to use that data effectively and efficiently is critical in providing next-level care and driving operational excellence. Both share our tight focus. Usable, secure data keeps an organization on track and online so that focus can be applied in areas that drive the organization forward. While our Cloud services deliver several key benefits to organizations, it isn’t always considered, so I’d like to dive into a brief introduction to Altera Cloud and the three pillars—which we consider our SPA—that make it up.

Security

Being a major focus of the concept of the Cloud, while considering the concept of secure data, we consider three key words as a guide for our strategy: a secure system must be proactive, prescriptive and preventative. A proactive system is one that is always looking out for potential threats, instead of only responding to them. And if this proactive method were to find a cyber threat, it is handled in a prescriptive way, meaning our methodology also ensures security by being one that follows a distinct guideline. Therefore, we land on a preventative way to ensure security in an organization’s system. By using these processes, tools and methodologies, we can proactively secure data from oncoming cyberthreats.

Performance

In theory, it’s a simple concept: all organizations need their software to work. With integrated tooling that monitors key metrics, the Cloud can optimize applications and the infrastructure against benchmarked clients. This ensures smooth performance within those applications. In addition, we also structure our service with a squad approach in which designated experts are assigned to each account, which enables a deeper understanding of our clients’ implementations and fosters improved partnerships. Through this connection-forward methodology, we build on the concept of a secure system with the additional layer of one with high levels of performance, which leads us to availability, ensuring all pillars are met.

Availability

Lastly, if an application isn’t available for an organization to use, what’s the point? This is why we create infrastructure and geographic redundancy to ensure data is backed up and safe, no matter what. Therefore, should a disaster occur, organizations can expect their systems and data to be recovered quickly. When it comes to an organization’s data, the peace-of-mind gained from these backups and more readily available use of technology leads to stronger organizational resilience and performance. As we know, disasters happen and organizations are forced to respond, but having an available application throughout an unplanned event can make a major difference in a serious situation.
