Quality improvement and incentive programs for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) offer healthcare organizations opportunities to improve their bottom lines. However, meeting the programs’ requirements remains challenging as they evolve and grow more complex. In fact, according to a survey from the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), 91% of group practice executives say the overall regulatory burden on their medical practice has increased over the last 12 months.

One tool for a range of reporting needs

Like many healthcare organizations, Jefferson Regional Medical Center (Jefferson Regional) needed a solution that would streamline CMS reporting for its primary hospital and 19 clinics in Southeast Arkansas. A longtime Sunrise™ EHR client, Jefferson Regional ultimately selected Allscripts® Clinical Performance Management business intelligence (BI) solution to fulfill its reporting needs.

Clinical Performance Management enables healthcare organizations to mine clinical data and transform it into actionable insights. Combined with Microsoft Power BI, Clinical Performance Management provides Jefferson Regional reporting tools, advanced data visualizations and rules engines to access clinical data collected in Sunrise. Jefferson Regional also develops its own intelligent quality measures and leverages the solution’s customization capabilities to gather and analyze insights from the EHR.

“The Clinical Performance Management tool is very flexible and allows the user to adapt configuration to meet actual workflows,” said Mike Wisely, Director of Quality Analytics at Jefferson Regional. “Reporting has proven to be easy as the documentation is so standardized.”

Insights where care teams need them

In addition to reporting, Jefferson Regional uses Clinical Performance Management to bring analytics into the EHR at the point of care. Providers can view patient records with high-level health metrics on a single screen to make more informed care decisions with fewer technology distractions.
