From confusion to confidence: Navigating rapid digital technology changes

Technology, at its core, is designed to help people. In today’s technological landscape, there’s constant—and significant—innovation happening, and in the midst of rapid change, users are expected to keep up. At Altera Digital Health, we recognize that with every stage or evolution of technology, automatic adoption or even full understanding sometimes can’t happen immediately.

However, this advancement doesn’t need to be a roadblock. New features, when used to their maximum benefit, are helpful, and we need users to trust their technology. User confidence and comfort lead to improved administrative outcomes, while overall influencing a better provider experience. As is stated in our vision at Altera, we measure our success by our clients’ outcomes, and this means we’re always looking for ways to improve their technological experience. It is our goal, always, to ensure our clients feel comfortable with their digital solutions. Because if they don’t feel confident in the tools we’re providing, we haven’t done our job.

However, this advancement doesn’t need to be a roadblock. New features, when used to their maximum benefit, are helpful, and we need users to trust their technology.

Keeping pace with new technology updates

As we consider this discussion further, I want to mention that Altera Digital Health is ahead of the change fatigue curve with our new offering: TouchWorks Waypoint. A part of our TouchWorks® EHR, this solution encourages and supports users in understanding the EHR and all of its features (new and current). Education, we know, is continuous, and Waypoint guides users through the ins and outs of TouchWorks in a way that highlights how users can best use the EHR system. It sits on top of the main EHR and helps users of all disciplines feel more confident and comfortable with the power of the solution. We firmly believe that having these tools and resources will transform how teams across entire organizations using TouchWorks EHR drive next-level care for every patient.

As practices are facing increased operational costs, staffing shortages and declining reimbursement rates, solutions like TouchWorks Waypoint not only improve user confidence but also help streamline workflows and reduce the need for extensive manual training and support. By empowering teams to use the EHR more efficiently, organizations can minimize training downtime, ease administrative burden and, ultimately, lower operational costs—all while enhancing clinician efficiency and reducing documentation burdens.

One of Altera’s core values is to communicate and share knowledge, which, through TouchWorks Waypoint, becomes a reality and will further enable clinicians to provide the care their patients need, with the technology to make it cleaner and less burdensome.
